Joshua Bartlett
has written about theater, music, dance, and opera for many
publications. He currently lives in New York City.
Dance Studio Life
publisher Rhee Gold grew up in dance studios and later
operated his own. He has performed and choreographed
professionally, owned a leading dance competition, presided
over national dance teaching organizations, and founded
Project Motivate to reinvigorate dance teachers. His book,
The Complete Guide to Teaching Dance, is in its second
printing.
Diane Gudat
is from Indianapolis, IN, where she has owned her own school,
The Dance Company, Inc., since 1979. She is the author of four
books on dance education, including Acrobatics for the
Dance Studio and The Time Step Dictionary. Gudat
has served as a faculty member for the DMA, DTCB, FDM, and the
CNADM Teachers Training Schools.
Lea Marshall
is a freelance writer based in Virginia. A producer and
assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University’s
Department of Dance & Choreography, she is also executive
director of Ground Zero Dance Company.
Rachel Straus
writes for Dance Magazine and Ballet.co.uk. She holds a
journalism degree and an MFA in dance. She taught modern and
jazz at Purchase College, Performing Arts Network, and the
Dance in Education Fund.
Heather Wisner,
a freelance contributor based in Portland, OR, has written for
SF Weekly, Dance Magazine, and Portland Monthly,
among other publications. She is the managing editor of
Makeup Artist Magazine.
Mike Wittmers,
the owner/creator of Double Bass Productions, has been tapping
for 26 years and teaching for 16. He is a former cast member
of Tap Dogs and was featured in the widely acclaimed
short film Tap Heat. He has worked for Disneyland Theme
Parks and been on staff at EDGE Performing Arts Center,
Millennium Dance Complex, and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio.
