Sharon DiCrosta
has
directed The Dancer’s Studio since 1972 and has taught dance
and related courses throughout North America. She trained at
the American Ballet Theatre School, Broadway Dance Center, and
Steps on Broadway. She was coach and choreographer for the
1998 USA Junior Tap Dance Team and a judge for the World Tap
Dance Championships in Germany. A past president of Dance
Masters of America Chapter #26, she teaches for many schools
and dance organizations.
Mignon Furman
is the founder and director of the American Academy of Ballet
and the composer of the Performance Awards and other teaching
programs. The former director of the University of Cape Town
Ballet School, she was nominated for the university’s
Distinguished Teaching Award.
Dance Studio Life
publisher Rhee Gold grew up in dance studios and later
operated his own. He has performed and choreographed
professionally, owned a leading dance competition, presided
over national dance teaching organizations, and founded
Project Motivate to reinvigorate dance teachers. His book,
The Complete Guide to Teaching Dance, is in its second
printing.
Diane Gudat
is from Indianapolis, IN, where she has owned her own school,
The Dance Company, Inc., since 1979. She is the author of four
books on dance education, including Acrobatics for the
Dance Studio and The Time Step Dictionary. Gudat
has served as a faculty member for the DMA, DTCB, FDM, and the
CNADM Teachers Training Schools.

editor in chief Cheryl Ossola is a former Dance
Magazine associate editor and freelance writer and editor.
She first worked with Rhee as the editor of his monthly column
for Dance Magazine, then as editor of his book, The
Complete Guide to Teaching Dance. She holds a BA in
theater from The College of William and Mary and has trained
in ballet, modern/ jazz, Lindy, and Balboa-swing.
Tom Ralabate
is an associate professor of dance at the University at
Buffalo [NY], where he has served as dance director, assistant
chair of dance, and director of Zodiaque Dance Company, UB’s
resident troupe. He has served on international and national
dance faculties for all major dance organizations and is
currently the National Chair for Strategic Educational
Planning for Dance Masters of America.
Jennifer Rienert
has owned and directed New Hampshire School of Ballet, which
has been in her family for more than 40 years, for 14 years.
She is a certified teacher with Dance Masters of America and
served on its board of directors for the past three years.
Besides teaching at her own school, she judges competitions
both regionally and nationally and teaches master classes
throughout New England.
Cathy Roe
is the owner of Ultimate Dance Competitions and Cathy Roe
Video Productions, which has produced more than 120
educational dance videos. Her credits include dance director
for the University of Hawaii, choreographer for Hong Kong
television, adjudicator for numerous competition companies,
20-year dance studio owner, and director/choreographer for
Something In the Air Dance Company.
Texas-based Anne L. Silveri, a former dancer, writes
about dance, theater, and opera for various publications.
Larry Sousa is a director and choreographer based in
Los Angeles. He has appeared on Broadway and TV and in films
and has received numerous awards for his work in musical
theater, including the prestigious Los Angeles Drama Critics
Circle Award. He is the creator of the upcoming docu-reality
TV series Drama Club.
Nancy Stone
knows the challenges of costuming from both the teacher and
supplier points of view. Her experience reflects a wide
variety of enterprises: owner and operator of a dance studio
in Georgia for 40 years, vice president of Art Stone
Enterprises, artistic director for Art Stone/The Competitor
costume catalog, among others. She has also served as
chairperson for National Dance Week since 2004.
Lisa Traiger
has been a dance critic and journalist specializing in the
performing arts since 1985. Her work has appeared in many
publications, including The Washington Post, Dance
Magazine, Stagebill, The Sondheim Review, Washington Jewish
Week, The Washington Times, Moment magazine, Asian
Week, Boston Jewish Advocate, Intermission, and
Washington Review. She is currently co-chair of the Dance
Critics Association.
Heather Wisner
is a freelance contributor based in Portland, OR. Her
published work includes articles in SF Weekly, Dance
Magazine, Portland Monthly, and other publications in the
United States and abroad. She has hip-hopped in San Francisco,
Portland, and Costa Rica.
Nancy Wozny
was a NEA fellow at the Institute for Dance Criticism at the
American Dance Festival and a 2004 recipient of the Gary Parks
Memorial Award for Emerging Dance Critics. Her work has
appeared in Dance Magazine, The Houston Chronicle,
Artshouston, and several other publications. She is also a
guild-certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method.
